Designing a Presentation from Scratch

We showed you how Selecting a Template was usually the best way for first-time Prezi users to get started building a presentation after Drafting Content.

You can also start a presentation from a blank slate by clicking Start from scratch.

A blank Prezi will open, and you can change the background colour and add a background image from those available on Prezi or from your computer.

Even if you have already selected a template as a starting point for your presentation, you can always change the background image at any time.

1. To change the background image, click on Style at the top of the page.

The below options will appear.

2. Click on the three dots next to Background.

A menu will appear on the right side, displaying the free and premium images from which you can choose. If you want to use your own image, click on the down arrow next to the Upload image button and select the option of your choice.

Prezi also offers a variety of topic shapes. Your topics do not have to be rectangular. If the template you chose uses a particular topic frame, you can modify its shape.

1. To modify the shape of your topics, click on Style.

2. Click on the three dots next to Topic shape.

A box that contains all the available shapes will appear on the right. You can try the different shapes by clicking on them.

3. Close the box once you choose a shape.

Remember that Prezi automatically saves all the changes.
